We’re participating in the 2019 Mongol Rally!
Welcome! We are team Fleetwood Yak, and if you have stumbled upon this page or have come here by your own doing, you will soon find out that the four of us are planning to embark on a very special road trip in the coming year. Now when we say road trip, this is not just any road trip, this is the Mongol Rally. We’ll be traveling over 10,000 miles from London through Southeastern Europe into Central Asia and across the Eurasian Steppe before terminating in Ulan-Ude, Russia. The kicker is – we’ll be completing this venture in a 1000cc car, which could be alternatively described as souped-up Japanese go-cart. No support, no checkpoints, no guidance – just our shear stick-to-itiveness to get to the finish line. So, what drove four mid-twenty-something millennial yuppies to set-forth on such a high-risk, low reward excursion? Are we delusional? Are we suffering from the so-called quarter-life crisis scourging millennials throughout America? Well, in short, we’re four friends (as of now, at least) that share an affinity for risky adventures and going places that the average person has and will probably never see. While the jury may still be out on our sanity, we do feel extremely passionate about supporting and promoting awareness for the Ramp Less Traveled, a charity that assists aspiring college students who have suffered traumatic spinal cord injuries; read more about it in our “Donate” page.
The Rally
The Mongol Rally is a 10,000 mile intercontinental road trip across the mountains, deserts, and steppe of Europe and Asia each summer. There’s no backup, no support and no set route; just your team and a tiny car.
“If nothing goes wrong, everything has gone wrong.”
The Rules
There are 3 official rules to the Rally:
1. You can only take small and garbage vehicles (Up to 1.2L engines)
2. You’re on your own. You set your own route, and there is no on the road backup or support.
3. Raise at least £1,000 for charity
